Sign me up!

Mike told me a few months ago that it was now my duty to update the blog. Since he did the laundry this week I better update his blog!
As we were walking Kalli to school a few weeks ago, her friend who walks with us, told us that he had finally finished reading 100 books and was so excited to turn in the paper that he had recorded the titles on. I had totally forgotten about that assignment. Kalli had started it and was faithful and writing down every book she read. Then one day it was lost, and I never thought of it again until now. When Kal got home from school we made a contract together. If she could read 100 different books to Mike and I in one week, then I would take her to the store and let her choose any shoes she wanted. The deal was signed right away.
Megan was not going to miss out on this deal. She has wanted a 'pillow pet' since January. I agreed to sign a contract with her too. She needed to read 25 different books in one week.
It was a great week. When ever Meg and I had a spare minute, we got a book and she read it to me. It was a little more challenging with Kalli since the school steals her from me for 6 1/2 hours every day. We had a lot of late nights, but they were all worth it!

Awesome. I love the idea of using contracts to help kids set goals. Can I be like you guys when I grow up?
